Julie and Michael headed to tour the Loch Ness exhibit.
However, the sheep didn't seem to like this, and they ran away.
At the of the "What to do in Scotland" list, my family listed visit Loch Ness (and look for Nessie, naturally).
So on day one, we hopped in the car and headed northwest to the town of Inverness and then a bit south to Loch Ness.
Loch Ness is approximately 23 miles long. As far as the eye can see, the lake does not seem to ever end!
Julie and Michael headed to tour the Loch Ness exhibit.
Some Scottish people are mega serious about Nessie real. Other Scots joke about it being the only thing Scotland has to entice tourists.
In fact, BBC News just posted this article today- http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-22125981.
Two Nessies!
Dad, James, and I headed to Urquhart Castle.
Although there isn't much of the castle left to see, the picturesque view gives you a good understanding of why this location was chosen for the castle! Stunning!
If you decide to visit Urquhart (which you definitely should), we highly recommend that you first watch the video in the visitor center. The video takes you through the castle's history and that of the noble families, Durwood, MacDonald, and Grant, who held the castle.
It was an incredibly rainy day, but the colors were spectacular!
On our way home through the Cairngorms, we stopped at the restaurant in the Letterfinlay Lodge Hotel for some sticky toffee pudding.
I absolutely adore the tartan carpet. (How do you think this would look in our Houston home?)
Every single sticky toffee pudding you will try is very different.
And always delicious!
Julie was determined to see and take photos with a bunch of sheep while she was in Scotland.
Success!
Then she had the opportunity to hop the fence to try to get close to them!
But we did get to see some highland cattle!
Their shaggy hair was sopping wet. Poor guys.
On the road back home to Aberdeen after a fun-filled day
