Edinburgh Castle's great hall
Although there is no official evidence, it is reported that Scottish Parliament met in this great hall.

Scotland's beauty never disappoints.

After exploring the castle, we stopped to visit Saint Giles' Cathedral.
More properly termed High Kirk of Edinburgh, St. Giles' Cathedral has been one of Edinburgh's religious focal points for about 900 years.

Anne and I stopped in for afternoon tea at One Square in the Sheraton Grand Hotel and Spa near Edinburgh's city centre.

Extensive selection of loose leaf teas

Complete with a chilled glass of Champagne

Our assortment of sandwiches, scones and homemade preserves, and sweet treats

As a member of the prestigious Tea Guild, the restaurant is required to brew and serve tea in accordance with the United Kingdom Tea Council.

Delicious sweet treats
If you are looking for a special place to have afternoon tea in Edinburgh, One Square certainly does a lovely job!

Instead of giving an Easter basket and goodies as a gift on Easter, many Scots give large chocolate eggs. Some eggs have fillings, and some are solid chocolate. These giant eggs shown above are solid chocolate! Can you imagine eating a whole one of those?!

We celebrated Easter with a dinner at Amber Restaurant, located within the Scotch Whisky Experience. The restaurant offers mini "pots" of traditional Scottish dishes. We sampled lamb stovies, mussels with Islay Whisky sauce, seafood chowder, haggis with neeps and tatties, and hot smoked salmon with prawns.

This is a perfect way to have a taste of several Scottish dishes without having to order just one as a main. I highly recommend this as a place to take your next visitors!

Of course, the restaurant also offers quite a vast selection of Scotch to be tasted on its own or paired with your dinner.
Cheers!
